Le Guide du Bashing

What Is RC Bashing?

Driving radio-controlled cars is a hobby enjoyed by many people around the world, both children and adults. There are several distinct groups of enthusiasts: competitors who race against each other, and hobbyists who drive their models without any restrictions. Every model car enthusiast has at some point thought about pushing their machines to their limits to see how fast and how far they can go. This is what’s known as bashing. RC bashing involves driving your RC car at full speed without following any rules.

  1. Racing involves a professional On-road, rules, regulations, and specific objectives. You’re not driving just for fun, but rather to win. During a competition, you do everything you can to avoid going off the On-road and damaging the vehicle. This doesn’t mean that bashing involves intentionally destroying your precious machine, but rather driving without worrying about the consequences. Be careful, though—this practice requires at least a basic understanding of RC mechanics so you can make repairs if something breaks.

You can be both a competitor and a “basher” at the same time: these two activities are perfectly compatible. Bashing is simply a more carefree version of driving that lets you fully enjoy the experience of your RC car!

What are the characteristics of a good car for bashing?

When looking to buy an RC model for bashing, there are several selection criteria to keep in mind to avoid disappointment:

A sturdy car and the availability of parts

.

Since you’ll be driving on rough terrain, the vehicle is bound to take some hits, and you’ll break parts (suspension arms, drive shafts, bumpers, etc.). It’s therefore essential to look for a sturdy design, but above all to choose a brand whosereplacement parts are readily available in stores (such as Traxxas, Arrma or Team Corally).

Choose durability over lightness

. Racers look for a lightweight vehicle to go faster on the track. Off-On-road enthusiasts do the opposite: areinforced chassis (often made of aluminum on large 1/8-scale models) and extra weight make the vehicle much more durable against impacts.

Prioritize good ground clearance

Models designed for this extreme activity must havehigh ground clearance to navigate tall grass, loose dirt, or gravel pits. Skip the competition buggies and opt for models Monster Trucks or the Truggys.

Powertrain Brushless and LiPo batteries

To ensure you have enough torque for off-road sections and enough speed to launch off jumps, you must opt for aBrushless motor (brushless electric motor). Paired with high-capacity LiPo batteries (a high mAh rating, such as 5000 mAh), you’ll get the power and runtime needed for long sessions.
