Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, founder of the Porsche company, was a genius designer whose ideas influenced many of today's cars. He designed the Beetle, the Jagdpanzer Elephant tank, the Kubelwagen Type 82, the Schwimmwagen Type 166 and the Lohner-Porsche hybrid, the world's first car powered by motors mounted in the wheel hub. Thus, during the Second World War , the Type82E , was a car mainly used by senior officers . Its post-war civilian version was the Beetle, which subsequently became world famous.
The air-cooled motor does not require water for cooling, making it ideal for use in hot and cold environments. Therefore he was sent in large numbers to the North African Corps under Ehrewin Rommel . This engine was later used in several later generations of classic cars. It was even used for 65 years in the Beetle, a saga that ended when the last Beetle, number 21,529,464, rolled off the production line in Puebla, Mexico, on July 30, 2003.
Roc Hobby offers an ultra-detailed reproduction of this iconic military car from the Second World War with a host of very realistic details. An integrated light control is installed on the car, which allows you to turn on the headlights during night driving. The turn signals and brake lights are located at the rear of the car. The battery is stored in place of the real car's fuel tank. Pull outward, the door can be opened by the push of the built-in spring latch, when closed, you can hear the snap of the spring latch.
The soft rubber seats feature the same soft texture as those in the real car, and can accommodate 1/12 figures (supplied separately). The removable plastic roof is sculpted with a fine weave pattern to simulate the texture of the fabric awning. The model wheels need to be fixed with 5 screws like on the real car, and the spare wheel at the front is easily accessible after opening the hood.
The flywheel of the engine crankshaft is connected by a belt to drive the generator as well as the cooling fan. The semi-circular fan shroud is a major feature, in which the airflow is distributed to the cylinders on both sides. Everything is faithfully reproduced on the model.
For the electronic system, a 4-way remote control assembly is used. In addition to channels 1 and 2 for steering and throttle control, the third channel controls the gear change. The fourth way push button allows you to change the lighting mode with short presses, and with long presses (3 seconds) to switch between 2 rear wheel drive mode and 4 wheel drive mode .
