Why is wheel balancing important?
Many of us spend countless hours preparing and maintaining our cars, but how many take the five minutes needed to balance the wheels? Poorly balanced tires can affect the vehicle's handling, cause vibrations, and wear out wheel bearings more quickly. Thewheel balancing process is fairly simple and requires only a few tools.
The first thing you need to balance wheels is a high-performance, suitable device. We offer wheel balancers specially designed for this purpose, but you can also use one of your axles as a balancer.
How to balance your wheels?
- Remove the drive shaft so that the axle can rotate freely and gently spin the wheel.
- If it moves like a pendulum and then stabilizes, the point of stabilization corresponds to an imbalance in weight on one side of the wheel, so add weight to the other side.
- You can use balancing paste, modeling clay, or putty, which you will stick to the inside of the rim, against the covered side of the wheel.
- Spin the wheel again and add or remove weight as necessary.
- When you can no longer find any "heavy areas," your wheel is balanced.
