Jim Clark, born in 1936 in Scotland, is famous for his exceptional talent in Formula 1. Coming from a farming family, he started out in local rallies before moving to the circuit with a DKW. Spotted in 1958 by the Border Reivers team, he competed in a Jaguar D-Type, winning 18 races that year.
Clark made his mark in 1958 when he drove a Lotus Elite at Brands Hatch, finishing second behind Lotus boss Colin Chapman. This result launched his career with Lotus. In 1960 he joined Formula 1 with Lotus, making his debut at the Dutch Grand Prix and winning his first Grand Prix in Belgium in 1962. He won the world championship in 1963 and 1965.
As well as F1, Clark shone in other races, winning the Indy 500, competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and winning several races in a Lotus Cortina, as well as a British Saloon Car Championship. Considered one of the most gifted drivers in F1 history, he tragically died in 1968 during a Formula 2 race in Germany. Today he is remembered as a motorsport legend, a natural talent unlike any other on the track.
