In 1980, Subaru entered its first 4WD machine in the World Rally Championship (WRC) but did not launch its large-scale offensive until 1990. To take on the WRC, Subaru relied on its new generation of Legacy and s is associated with the British manufacturer Prodrive. Despite four years of intense effort, Subaru only managed one victory. Nevertheless, the dream of dominating world rallying would be realized by its successor, the Impreza, featuring advanced racing technology in a more compact chassis. Surprising the rallying world with a 2nd place finish on its first appearance in 1993, the Impreza took three wins in its first full season in 1994. Building on this momentum, the Impreza took the coveted double of the constructors' and driver in 1995, followed by consecutive manufacturers' titles in 1996 and 1997, making Subaru an iconic name in the WRC on a global scale. The range highlights the 1994 RAC specification, which brought the Impreza its first victory, and the Monte Carlo specification which competed in the inaugural race of the 1995 season
